We regret to report that another good friend of Minety Rugby Club has passed away…
Thursday 29 October – Andrew Somers writes:
It is my very sad duty to inform you that my father John Somers sadly passed away yesterday afternoon aged 69, after a brave battle against cancer that he couldn’t win. He died peacefully at home with my Mother Marilyn, my brother David, my sister Gillie and a bottle of Jameson by his side. Dad was landlord of the Flying Monk pub in Malmesbury from 1967-1984, which was a second home of Minety players in the late 70’s and early 80’s. He is also a former vice-president and a great ‘newspaper’ supporter of the club. He will be very sorely missed by all who knew him.”
