In memoriam: Dave Ellis

It is with great sadness that we note the death of former Minety player Dave Ellis, also fondly known as Lettuce, who passed away last week aged 51.

His funeral is to be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday the 1st of October at the Church of the Holy Cross in Sherston. Note that the service is not at 11.30am as reported in The Wiltshire Gazette.

One of Dave’s contemporaries at Minety remembers him thus:

He played in the late 1980s and early to mid 1990s. He was a second row forward with pace and a hell of a boot who always stuck up for his teammates. Off the pitch he was known for his wicked sense of humour and his repertoire of practical jokes and stunts. He was quite unique.”
