A Friendly Draw

Pewsey Vale 2nd XV 15pts – Minety 2nd XV 15pts

When Minety seconds turned up at Pewsey Vale with only 10 players, they were forced to forfeit the league points. Thanks to the loan of players by their hosts, however, they were still able to go ahead and play an enjoyable game of rugby.

Having given three players to the first team at short notice, and with two of their number delayed on the trains, Minety seconds arrived very short-handed at Pewsey Vale. It was decided to play a friendly anyway, and Pewsey lent their visitors four players until the railways could bring them reinforcements.

In the event, the match was played in a good spirit but was still a physical encounter. Highlights for Minety included two breakaway tries by scrumhalf Rich Garbett.

The final result was an honourable 15-all draw.
