Minety 2nd XV v Warminster 2nd XV

Saturday 7 January 2012

Good come back by the Dreamers

Dorset & Wilts Division 3 North

Minety 2nd XV 22pts – Warminster 2nd XV 5pts

Minety seconds came from behind to beat their counterparts from Warminster.

Playing down the slope, Warminster had the upper hand in the first half. The home team could make little ground and a try from winger Matt Gray put the visitors ahead by five points at the break.

The second half was barely two minutes old when open-side flanker Lewis Smith ran in a try for Minety to level the scores.

Warming to their task, Minety gradually pulled ahead thanks to a try from Andy Edwards and a final touchdown from Tim Vaughan, who also kicked two conversions and a penalty.

Minety’s Man of the Match was prop Toby Edmonds, who normally plays at lock but who gave an excellent performance in an unaccustomed role.

A spokesman for Warminster summed up the afternoon. “We dominated the first half and didn’t score. Minety dominated the second half and did.”
