Dreamers tackle Warminster

Minety 2nd XV 14pts – Warminster 2nd XV 0pts

Forward dominance and hard work in defence ensured Minety seconds a two-tries-to-nothing victory over their counterparts from Warminster.

Playing downhill in the first half, Minety seized an early try thanks to great work from the pack. Driving deep into their opponents’ 22, they secured quick ball for scrumhalf Dellam Murray, who nipped over for a try from five metres out.

Nick Jones’ conversion made it 7-nil, but though Minety remained in the Warminster half and crossed the whitewash several more times before the break, no further scores were awarded.

The second half was a scrappy affair, with the visitors’ efforts to take advantage of the slope cancelled out by their hosts’ stalwart tackling.

In the end, it was Minety who broke the deadlock, fighting their way up the hill, led once again by their forwards. A fine passage of play ended with a 22 metre rush from Jones, who not only touched down for the try but also kicked the conversion.

After the game, second team skipper Ben Scott picked Minety flanker James Stuart as his man of the match.”For once, he managed to avoid getting a yellow card! Instead, he tackled well and carried the ball with conviction to gain important ground in both halves.”
