Midsomer Norton 4th XV v Minety 2nd XV

Saturday 29 October 2011

Three tries for Pike

Dorset & Wilts Division 3 North

Midsomer Norton 4th XV 17pts – Minety 2nd XV 44pts

Dominating the set pieces and showing terrific pace out wide, Minety seconds put in a great team performance to comprehensively defeat their hosts at Midsomer Norton.

Up against a larger pack, Minety’s forwards more than held their own in the scrum and completely bossed the lineout. Jumping for the visitors, Lee Patterson secured all his own ball and stole three-quarters of Midsomer Norton’s. Lock Ralph Wells also had an outstanding game, but Minety’s man of the match was Toby Edmonds, who started in the second row and finished at prop after Dan Dickens suffered an injury on his debut with the team.

Making the most of quick ball and plentiful possession, Minety led 5-19 at half-time and then continued to pile on the points after the break.

Winger James Pike scored a hat trick of tries, while flyhalf Andy Edwards, number eight Sean Richards, fullback Richard Fisher and outside centre Jack Ward ran in one apiece. Edwards also kicked three conversions and a penalty.
