Devizes 3rd XV 23pts – Minety 2nd XV 5pts
A weakened Minety second team struggled away against Devizes.
A strong Devizes side struck first with an early try but this was cancelled out when Dellam Murray scored in the corner for Minety.
With several key players missing, Minety battled on and even when Devizes struck again it looked like it could be a close contest.
The sides turned round with the score at 10-5, but with no subs available and a mounting list of injuries, Minety eventually began to struggle. Devizes scored another try and though the visitors tried to keep in touch, they missed two penalty goals and the game gradually passed beyond their grasp.
In due course Devizes added a fourth try and then completed their afternoon with a penalty goal.
Steve Murray comments: “The Minety defence stood strong to the end. It was a great team effort against one of the top teams in the division and Minety will look to improve when they get back to strength again in two weeks time.”
