Saturday 26 March 2011
Dorset & Wilts Division 1 North
Match abandoned
Cricklade 14 pts – Minety 1st XV 34 pts
Minety scored six tries to Cricklade’s two and seemed set to pull further ahead when the match came to a premature end due to injury.
Bouncing back from the previous week’s defeat, Minety played well but failed to keep their shape at times in the first half, which limited their patterns of play and made Cricklade’s defensive work much easier.
Minety looked better organised after the break, and were pulling ahead when one of the Cricklade props injured his neck when engaging in the scrum. Play was brought to a halt and the match eventually abandoned. As 65 minutes had been played, the result will stand and Minety will claim a bonus point for having scored four tries or more.
Winger Ryan Dowling ran in a brace of tries for Minety, the team’s other tries being scored by David Hazell, Craig Smith, Reuben Saunders and Russell Barstow.
Cricklade scored two good tries thanks to the excellent work of their inside centre.
This Saturday, Minety play away at league leaders Melksham.
