2020 Minety 7’s

2020 Minety 7’s Postponed.

Minety RFC has reluctantly taken the decision to postpone the “2020 Minety 7’s” tournament in the light of the present COVID-19 pandemic.  The safety and security of players, families and supporters is of paramount importance.

We hope that, with sufficient clearance from the RFU, to re-schedule the event in late summer, just before the planned start of the 2020 / 2021 season.

We will keep everyone up to date via our club website (www.minetyrfc.com) and will write to all parties when the situation becomes clearer and we have a new date.

“It’s not summer until it’s the Minety 7’s!”

We are delighted to announce that this year’s Minety 7’s tournament will take place on Saturday 2nd May.

The tournament begins at 10.30am with the first kick offs at 11am.

In response to feedback from last year’s event, we will be running two main divisions of 6 teams each and a separate “social” division of 6 teams for those of a less competitive nature. Main competition teams will be allocated to one of two divisions and play each of the other teams in their division once. Matches are over 10 minutes with a 1 minute break for half time; scoring is as per usual 15 a side games.

Winners and runners up in each division go on to play in semi finals with the final starting at about 3.30pm.

Entry for teams of between 7 and 10 players (although more can always be accommodated) is £50 but that covers the costs of RFU approved and appointed referees and also full medical support complete with a Physio Hub with taping and massage, fully qualified sports therapist cover throughout the event, consumables and First Aid provision.

The Minety 7’s has been a long running fixture on the calendar; if you have sent a team before you’ll already know what an enjoyable day it is; if you haven’t, maybe we can persuade you to give it a try.

If you do wish to enter a team please let me, Graham Cooke (ghcooke@hotmail.com or 0798 128 1736) or Kieran Tillotson (tillotsonkieran@gmail.com Mobile 07384 671869) know as soon as possible, indicating whether you wish to enter a team (or teams) for the “main draw” or the “social draw”.
