Tough weekend ahead for Minety

The two Minety RFC teams have tough challenges this weekend as they seek to build on the double wins from last weekend.

In Dorset and Wilts Division 1 North Minety 1st XV travel to Bradford on Avon, where the home team have enjoyed mixed fortunes this season.  After a comprehensive 59-17 defeat of Wootton Bassett in week 1, Bradford on Avon defeated Melksham 29-5 in week 2 but tasted defeat for the first time this season in a loss by 37-5 by Warminster, who narrowly edged out Minety 13-9 in week 2.  Nevertheless, 4th placed Bradford will be tough opposition for the village side when the two clash for the first of two meetings in consecutive weeks this weekend.  This Saturday it’s a league fixture; on the 15th it will be a Cup tie, this time at Minety Fields.

The 2nd XV travel to Swindon where Matt Stone’s team will take on the hitherto unbeaten Swindon College Old Boys II side, who have enjoyed comfortable victories over Swindon III, Devizes III and Alfred’s Nomads, and sit at the top of the Dorset and Wilts Division 3 North table with a perfect 15 point haul, four points clear of 2nd in the table Bradford on Avon II’s who were beaten by Minety 2nd XV last weekend.

Full reports on the games will be posted on the site on Saturday evening / Sunday morning.
