Stat Attack!

Writer's picture: Minety RFCMinety RFC

This feature becomes more obscure with each passing week, but some people find it entertaining!  So what has our resident statistician, Benjamin Disraeli, come up with this week?

  1. 3 teams failed to score in D&W1N fixtures at the weekend, the most shut outs on a single Saturday this season.

  2. Saturday’s shut out of Warminster was Minety 1stXV’s first shut out of the season in the league fixtures.

  3. Warminster failed to score a point for the first time this season on Saturday.

  4. In terms of appearances this season for the 1st XV, Tom Claxton, Garin Garland, Colin French and Ben Scott still lead the way with 11 appearances from 12 matches.

  5. Ben Scott has the longest unbroken record of 11 appearances on the bounce.

  6. Matt Stone became the 33rd different player to appear for the 1st XV this season.

  7. Garin Garland is the top scorer, his 17 points on Saturday taking him to 137, or 46% of all points scored by the 1st XV.

  8. Dave Cooke’s try keeps him as top try scorer (other than Garin), with 6 from 8 appearances, and 2nd top points scorer with 30 points.

  9. Minety kept up their record of scoring at least one try in each league match this season.

  10. Jack Howse became the 17th player to score points for the 1st XV this season.

  11. It took 46 minutes for anyone to score down the slope on Saturday (Garin Garland’s second half penalty).

  12. By the end of the match with Warminster Minety had registered 15 points playing uphill and 17 downhill.

  13. 5 players still sit on the “naughty step” for picking up yellow cards: Garin Garland, Dave Church, Rob Hinwood, Ash Windle and Ben Collins.

Action may not always bring happiness; but there is no happiness without action.  (Disraeli)
