Minety v Chippenham II

News Flash: Christmas Skittles Fixture

The Christmas skittles fixture is against the Carpet Baggers at the clubhouse at 8 pm on Wednesday 18 December. Let Tim Vaughan know if you’d like to play. See the Skittles page for further details…

Rugby: Minety go top!

A great afternoon for Minety despite the dark and the damp and the mud underfoot!

The firsts defeated Chippenham seconds 24-6 to go top of Dorset & Wilts Division 1 North, while the Dreamers saw off Westbury seconds 50-12.

All round, it was a terrific performance by all the Minety players involved. It’s seven years since Minety were last top of the league, and a very long time since we last beat Chippenham seconds.

Good to see the Dreamers continuing their winning form as well.

Details of the games against Chippenham and Westbury are now in the Match Reports section.

The light was very poor, so photos of the games this afternoon will tend to be fairly dark and dingy, but as well as those here and in the match report, there are also a few more on the Minety RFC Facebook page.

Friends of Minety RFC Lunch

Many thanks to Mark Wallington for organising a splendid lunch for the Friends of Minety Rugby Club before the game. Thanks, too, for those who worked so hard to cater and serve it.

Great to see everyone there, and especially Andy Edwards, who broke his neck playing rugby earlier in the season. It was smashing to see him up and about and out of his halo at last.

RFU Injured Players Foundation

Andy has been greatly helped during his treatment and convalescence by the RFU Injured Players Foundation. He was recently their guest at Twickenham for the Barbarians game, and is pictured here with his official Minety RFC minders, Steve Murray and Kevin Holdway.

It would be great if we could show our appreciation for the work of the RFU Injured Players Foundation by making a gift or presentation from the club some time later this season.

How it about it, everyone?

Club Blazers

Snappy dressers ahoy!

Minety RFC club blazers are now available, and very smart they look too.

Go to the new Club Blazers page for further details.

Next Saturday

Next Saturday, 14 December 2013, sees our last games before Christmas. The firsts welcome Fairford to Minety Playing Fields while the seconds play hosts to their counterparts from Calne. It’ll be even darker next Saturday, so early kick-offs at 2.15 pm.
