Minety’s Academy squad has just heard that their semi final opponents, Bournemouth, are unable to fulfill their Vase semi final fixture, scheduled for Minety Fields this coming Sunday. As a consequence, our Academy squad, featuring some players who have made their debuts for the 1st and 2nd XVs this season, including Tom McAllister who has played at fly half for the 1sts on a number of occasions recently, will play Chippenham, in the final, on the 17th April, venue and time to be confirmed.
Given the number of ex Academy players who have played for the 1st XV this season (Garin Garland, Elis Garland, David Cooke, Tom Windle, Ash Windle, Joe Kidner, Luke Evans and Josh Bull amongst others) it is clear that having a well supported, quality Academy set up is of great importance to the long term development of the club as a whole.
