We’re hoping for huge crowds of supporters for the two league matches, both at Minety Fields this Saturday.
Taking their seats in the Dave Peirce stand at Minety earlier in the season
Fresh from their dogged 17-12 victory in the rain and gloom at Swindon last weekend, Andrew Hibbard’s 1st Xv go into their last match of the year in 6th place in Dorset and Wilts Division 1 North in the knowledge that a win, and a loss elsewhere for Pewsey, will leave the village side in 4th place in the table.
Melksham, who are one place above Minety, have won 6 of their 10 league matches this season, losing a close fought match with RWB last Saturday and also falling to runaway league leaders Corsham the weekend before.
The teams, always evenly matched, go into the encounter with more than just pride to play for although much will depend upon Minety availability with a worrying number of 1st team regulars (if there is such a thing at Minety this season) either unavailable or injured / not match fit.
The 2nd XV are at home to Devizes III.
Matt Stone’s team will be looking to build on last weekend’s astonishing win at Westbury. With only 13 available players, Stone’s team were down to just 12 at times, due to injury, they still came away with a resounding 62-0 victory. Placed 5th in the table, they lie 6 points behind Bradford on Avon above them but will be looking to consolidate their position with a win against a Devizes outfit who were unable to field a team against Swindon last week but defeated Supermarine 31-12 the week before.
Full match reports on Sunday and, new technology willing (the old video camera has now been replaced) MTV of the match between the 1st XV and Melksham on MTV on Wednesday.
