Big weekend for the club

It’s the last league match of the Dorset and Wilts Division 1 North campaign for the 1st XV this afternoon as they take on League Champions Combe Down on at Minety Fields with a 3pm kick off. Combe Down inflicted Minety’s 1st defeat of the league season back in September and have only tasted defeat once since then, a single point loss at Corsham.

In his last match as 1st team coach, Andy Ward will be desperate to finish what has been an extremely enjoyable and successful season for the 1st team, albeit one where the awful weather and pitch conditions at Minety Fields took their toll.

A full match report will be posted on this site later today or tomorrow morning.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to wish our Club Chairman Dave Peirce a very happy 50th birthday last Thursday – something tells us that he will be celebrating at the club no matter what the result later this afternoon.

But the success does not end with the 1st XV.  The 2nds have performed mightily this season and have “punched well above their weight” against much bigger clubs with greater numbers.  Well done to Ben Scott and all the players who have turned out in the 2nd XV colours and to those who have stepped up to plug gaps left in the 1st XV.

The club also has two of its junior division teams competing in Cup finals this weekend. The Academy team are playing Chippenham at Chippenham this Sunday in the final of the County Vase. For those that want to clear their heads after the party at the club house tonight or to support the future of the club it will be great to see you for a 2pm kick off.

Results from all of these matches will be available on this site during the next three days.
