We are all delighted to report that Minety RFC’s Dale Langdown completed the Manchester Marathon yesterday (Sunday) in a magnificent 3 hours and 38 minutes.
Dale, who has been a stalwart member of Minety RFC for many years, ran his first marathon in Berlin two years ago and enjoyed, if that is the right word, the experience so much that he entered the Manchester Marathon in 2017. His strict training regime has limited his appearances for the rugby club this season but we look forward to him rejoining the ranks as soon as he recovers fully from his run.
Dale was not originally going for sponsorship but, late in the day, decided to run for the “Barbara Bus” charity appeal. This appeal is to raise money for buses like the one below, which can transport people like our great friend Rob Bugden to events like our match against Swindon on Saturday.
Rob’s mates at the RAF Physical Training Instructors unit have been “Rowing for Rob” to raise the funds needed to purchase another Barbara Bus and the rugby club is to donate a portion of the “Fines” money that has been levied upon players over the past 2 years.
But more money is needed, and if you want to know the reason why we want to make a substantial contribution to recognise both Dale’s amazing effort and Rob’s stunning determination to overcome the effects of his parachute accident whilst training with the RAF last year, look at the photo of Rob and his Minety mates at the bottom of this post.
The link to the Just Giving page is here: https://www.justgiving.com/fu…/Physical-Training-Instructors . If you can spare the odd pound or twenty, please remember to Gift Aid it (instructions are all on the Just Giving page), so that the tax can be added to the contribution.
