Since its re-launch in 1999 the junior section has grown at a phenomenal rate and with around 250 members we are one of the few clubs in Wilshire that provides rugby for all age groups between U6 and U18 for both boys and girls.

All coaches have enhanced CRB clearance and access to a comprehensive training programme and support. Up to U12 each age group has at least one level 1 coach whilst from U13 most have least one level 2 coach.
We work to a 5 year Development Plan and have close links with local primary and secondary schools. In 2009 we were awarded the RFU’s Seal of Approval and we have twice been runners up in the RFU’s National President’s XV Awards for our player education programme. In 2012 we will be one of the few clubs nationally to take part in a pilot scheme to license coaches and thus assure the quality of our provision.
Although the Club could be considered to be a village based club we have successfully developed a number of players to reach representative standard at District, County and Regional levels.
This season we launch an Academy to provide high quality coaching and social development for older age groups (U16 – U18). This will also to provide a bridge into senior rugby (male and female) both locally and through the RFU’s ‘Play On’ campaign in which our pathway officer provides a link for players as they move away to university.
Our Style
We adopt a player centred approach and whilst we want to produce strong competitive teams we aim to achieve this through the development of individuals to fulfil their potential. Success will result in players leaving the junior section with the ability to play the game in its broadest sense rather than being drilled in a particular style or pattern. In short we will produce players that can:
* Read a game accurately and determine the best way to attack or defend.
* Function effectively in a variety of situations.
For the 2010-11 seasons we will be establishing an Academy principle to accommodate the older age groups and provide a bridge into senior rugby. This will reflect the final stage in the growth of the club which culminates in providing players with a pathway from U6 to U18s and on into senior rugby.
The context in to which this development will fit within the club is outlined via this link.
