Minety maintained their undefeated league run with a
comprehensive eight-try victory away against Fairford.
Playing a canny strategic
game and making the most of their impressive pack, the visitors put in a fine
performance to overwhelm Fairford with a sprightly display of 15-man rugby. In
what proved to be a fiery encounter, Minety had three apparent tries disallowed
and but for occasional handling errors might well have scored more points than
they did.
In the event, winger Ryan
Dowling scored a hat-trick of tries, to which he added a penalty goal and three
conversions to bring his personal haul to 24 points. Scrumhalf Max Sparrow
scored a brace of tries while Richard Haines, Max Smith and Will Dyer each added
a try apiece.
In reply, Fairford could
only manage a couple of penalty goals.
Defeat this weekend for
previously unbeaten Cooper Avon Tyres means that Minety resume the lead in
Dorset & Wilts Division 1 North with a record of six wins out of
six.
This Saturday Minety play hosts to Bradford on Avon.
